Carousel Layout
Level: Easy
For this layout I just wanted to find a new way to present all the pictures I took of a carousel at Kennywood in Pennsylvania. We go to this park every year, so I wanted the pages to look different from all the other pictures.
Materials:
1 patterned sheet of paper
1 sheet each of Blue, Brown, and Yellow colored paper
1 ball sticker (I used a large Christmas ornament and cut the top off)
4 ribbon stickers
10 or so photos of a carousel and/or the people riding it
Photo adhesive
Journaling pen
Scissors and/or paper trimmer
Corner rounder
Oval trimmer
Step 1:
Using the blue paper cut a roughly triangle shape for the left top of the carousel. Lay the cut piece over the blue paper and cut a mirror copy for the right side. Use the photo adhesive to mount the blue across the top of both pages. Make sure the bottom edge is not adhered yet, so that you can slide the edges of the poles in later.
Step 2:
Take the patterned paper and cut a center stripe and 2 edge stripes to go over the blue top. These can be any width that looks good considering the power of the patterned paper you choose. Using the photo adhesive, mount the patterned paper pieces over the blue top.
Step 3:
Cut two strips ¼ inch wide off of the side of the yellow paper. These are going at the inside edges of the pages to make the center pole of the carousel. Make sure the strips are long enough to reach from the bottom of the pages up to just under the edge of the blue top. Using photo adhesive, mount the strips in place.
Step 4:
Cut four strips 3/8 inches wide from the side of the brown paper. These strips will form the poles for the Carousel photos and can be varying lengths depending on how you want them to look. Using photo adhesive, mount each pole spaced across the pages coming down from the blue top.
Step 5:
Use the corner rounder and oval trimmer to crop the photos you want included. Using the photo adhesive, mount the photos on and off the poles across both pages. Some of the photos should look like they are the carousel animals on the poles, but they do not all have to do this.
Step 6:
Place on ribbon sticker on each pole at whatever height looks good with the photos in place and place the ball sticker at the top center of the carousel.
Step 7:
You can use the blank areas around the top of the carousel to journal any notes. I also added everyone's name under his or her photos of riding the carousel.
