Grandmother

Level: Easy to Medium

My grandmother passed away three weeks before her 96th birthday. I was trying to figure out how I wanted to scrap a page dedicated to her when I came across the quote I used on this page. The page remained simple, but keeping the lettering consistent across the page can make the process slightly more difficult if you are not experienced. I based the colors of this page on her favorites.

Grandmother - original photoMaterials:
1 Baby picture of person
1 Recent picture of person
1 Striped 12 x 12 sheet of paper
1 Dark blue 12 x 12 sheet of paper
1 Dark brown 12 x 12 sheet of paper
1 Small light beige sheet of paper
Bronze letter and number stickers
Scissors/paper trimmer
Photo adhesive

Step 1:
Take the 12x12 sheet of striped paper and using the photo adhesive, mount to the page. I placed the stripes horizontal to help with the flow of words and visually taking the eye from left to right.

Step 2:
Take the baby photo and crop edges to leave you with a 4 x 6 photo. Mat the photo onto the dark blue paper, leaving a 1/4" edge and then double mat onto the dark brown paper leaving another 1/4" edge showing. Assemble layers from smaller down to larger using photo adhesive.

Step 3:
Using photo adhesive, mount the double matted baby photo on the upper left side of page. Tilt the bottom of the photo to the right and make sure you have about 1 inch of free space above the top right corner at the top of the page.

Take the recent photo and crop edges to leave you with a 4 x 6 photo. Mat the photo onto the dark brown paper, leaving a 1/4" edge and then double mat onto the dark blue paper leaving another 1/4" edge showing. Assemble layers from smaller down to larger using photo adhesive.

Step 5:
Using photo adhesive, mount the double matted recent photo on the lower right side of the page. You want this photo to overlap the lower right corner of the baby photo slightly and you want to tilt the bottom of this photo to the left. Make sure the bottom of recent photo is about 1 1/2" from the bottom of the page.

Step 6:
In the 1-inch of free space across the top of the page, place the first line of the quote to title the page using the bronze letter stickers. The full quote I used was "Memories of those we love, will keep them in our hearts forever."

Use the light beige paper to mount the remaining lines of the quote and cut to fit the page. Mount to the page coming off the right side of the baby photo, above the recent photo, using photo adhesive.

Step 8:
Again using the light beige paper, mount the Birth and Death dates in two lines using the bronze letters and numbers. Cut to fit the page under the baby photo to the left of the recent photo, and mount using photo adhesive.

Step 9:
In the free space across the bottom of the page, use the bronze letter stickers to spell out the full name of the person. I put both her maiden name and her married name. Since my grandmother always said she was the age she would turn that year, I added the age of 96 to the end of her name using the bronze number stickers.
