Rainy July 4th Title Page
Level: Easy
Brian's family holds an annual 4th of July picnic at the river. It is always a fun time with family and friends. This year it poured rain the whole day. It rained so hard the tent started leaking, which is how all these pictures show how we spent the day looking up. Since we really didn't move around, the pictures were few and I decided to do the pages quick and simple to get the point across.
Materials:
6 photos of rainy day activity
1 brown 12 x 12 sheet of paper
1 light green 12 x 12 sheet of paper
2 complementary 12 x 12 sheets of printed papers
Black letter and number stickers
Photo adhesive
Scissors/paper trimmer
Oval cutter
Circle cutter
Step 1:
Using photo adhesive, mount the complementing printed papers to the facing pages. These will cover as the background to your pages.
Step 2:
Trim photos to a square, rectangle, circle or oval shape. Pick whichever shape is going to highlight the subject the best and don't worry if the same shape works for more than one photo.
Step 3:
Mat the photos using the brown and light green papers and photo adhesive. I double matted each photo using each of the colors for each of the photos. I varied which color was on the bottom and also varied the width of each mat.
Step 4:
Lay the matted photos around the two-page spread. You can move them around until you get an arrangement that you like and that leaves different free areas around the pages. Use the photo adhesive to mount to the background paper.
Step 5:
Use the black letters and numbers to journal across the pages. I spelled out Raindrops keep falling on my head, and then put the date July 4, 2004 in the bottom right corner of the right hand page. Spread the words out between the two pages and vary how the letters are lined up. For example, I had Raindrops lined up straight with the letters themselves, but tilted the word as a whole up at an angle and I mounted falling wrapping around the circle mat of one of the photos. This is the only journaling I did for these pages as I felt that said it all.
