National Aquarium, Washington, DC
Level: Easy
As we walked around the end of the Mall in DC, we saw a sign for the National Aquarium. We had never heard of it, so decided to check it out. The kids all loved it even though it was very small and very dark. Only a few of the pictures I took came out light enough to see the subject, and none of those were the ones of the animal life. I did an open 2-page layout with this on one side with Walking in DC on the other side.
Materials:
3 photos (3 horizontal views)
1 3 3/4 x 2 1/2 inch navy blue paper
1 12 x 12 inch sheet red paper
1 3 1/2 x 2 1/4 inch white paper
Pamphlet from the Aquarium
Blue square tile stickers
Photo adhesive
Scissors/paper trimmer
Red journaling pen
Step 1:
Cut a 1-inch strip off one side of the 12 x 12 red paper. Use the photo adhesive to mount down the left edge of the page from top to bottom.
Step 2:
Trim each of the photos, if needed, to about 3 1/2 x 5 inches. Using the red paper, mat each of the 3 photos. Leave approximately 1/8-inch trim of the red showing around each side. Use the photo adhesive to mount in order down the left side of the page. You want to leave a little over 1/4 inch clear space at the top of the page and then the same amount of space between each of the matted photos.
Step 3:
Use the photo adhesive to mount the pamphlet on the right side of the page, about 1/4 inch in from the red strip. Mount the bottom edge first, staying closer to the bottom of the page so that you have room for the journaling box at the top of that side of the page.
Step 4:
Center the blue piece of paper in the open area of the top right corner of the page. Then take the white piece of paper and mount in the center of the blue using photo adhesive. Use the red journaling pen to write down a couple of sentences to tell about the experience.
Step 5:
Pick random size blue tile stickers and place them randomly down the red strip on the left side of the page to add embellishment. Remember you don't have to mount all of them completely on the red paper; you can have one or more overlapping onto the open space on the page.
