Ruff Around The Edges

Level: Easy to Medium

Ruff Around the Edges - original photoI chose to do these pages in memory of the moments we went through right after having my puppy spayed. Of course her recovery was not the easiest, and now I can look back and laugh at the antics. In case you wonder about the ace bandage in some of the photos, it was to keep the warm compress in place three times a day. These pages would be good for any of the Ruff'er times in your pet's life. Some of the steps require a little more time and that is what would move this up into the Medium level even though they are 5x7 pages.

Materials:
5 photos of your pet
1 8x10 sheet turquoise colored paper
1 8x10 sheet lime green colored paper
Oval cutter
Circle cutter
1 yard colored cording
Pink, yellow, lime letter/word stickers
Photo adhesive
Scissors/paper trimmer

Take the 8x10 sheet of turquoise paper and cut into two 8x5 inch sheets. Take each sheet and crop off one inch from the longer end, making two 5x7 inch sheets of paper. These 5x7 sheets are now the background pages for both sides of this layout.

Step 2:
Trim photos in various shapes and sizes — with one circle and one oval shape included. Mat the larger rectangle, the circle, the oval and the square shaped photos on to the lime green paper using the photo adhesive. Cut a circle ring out of the lime green paper to use around the remaining photo.

Step 3:
Rough up the edges of all the matted photos using an edge disstresser. You can use the edge of your scissors if you do not have one, or try slowly tearing at the edges of the mats.

Mount the circle matted photo in the top right of the left hand page and then the larger rectangular matted photo on the lower left of the left page tilted at a slight angle up. Place the circle ring on the top left corner of the right page then mount the smaller rectangular photo inside the circle tilted to the lower right of the page. Mount the square matted photo on the bottom left corner angled toward top right and overlapping circle right and the smaller photo slightly. Mount the oval matted photo in the middle of the right side of the right page with the left edge overlapping the circle ring.

Step 5:
Cut the colored cording into pieces to use spelling out the word RUFF and use the glue pen to glue to the top left of the left page. Cut off three little pieces to glue down as the dots after the word. Measure off a 5-inch piece of the cording and glue down the right edge of the right hand page.

Step 6:
Use the sticker letters and/or sticker words to place the word AROUND on the bottom right corner of the left page, rounding it up in a slight curve. Place the word THE tilted at the top left corner of the right page and then spell out EDGES tilted down underneath the oval picture on the right hand page.
