Summer Title Page
Level: Easy
I was trying out some unusual colors for both papers and background pages when I came up with this page to showcase some outside photos. The embellishments are fairly easy and can be done mostly freehand.
Materials:
4 outdoor photos
1 black 12 x 12 sheet of paper
1 neon pink 12 x 12 sheet of paper
1 neon orange 12 x 12 sheet of paper
2 silver metallic journaling pens (one thick and one thin)
Photo adhesive
Scissors/paper trimmer
Corner rounder/punch
Circle cutter
12" wavy cutter/stencil
Step 1:
Trim photos to highlight different views on some outdoor photos. Try to vary the shapes. I chose two rectangles and two circles to outline my photos. If you have squares or rectangles, use the corner punch to round of the corners.
Step 2:
Take the 12x12 black paper and mount to the page using the photo adhesive. This will make the background of your page.
Step 3:
Take the 12" wavy paper trimmer and cut a ¾" strip from both the neon orange and the neon pink papers. Using the photo adhesive, mount one strip across the bottom 1" above the edge and the other color down the left side about 1" from the edge of the page.
Step 4:
Cut one triangle from each of the neon papers, about 3 ½ - 4" on two sides. Take the scissors and cut a random wavy or curvy edge on the third side. Make sure to leave one of the triangles about a ¼" longer than the other. Cut two to three elongated triangular shapes to make the rays. These do not have to be perfect triangles.
Step 5:
Use photo adhesive to mount the larger triangle to the top right corner of the page and then the smaller on top of that one, leaving the edge of bottom triangle sticking out.
Step 6:
Use photo adhesive to mount the rays you made in Step 4 coming out from already placed sun. Alternate the colors and judge distance without a ruler; don't worry if it is not exact.
Step 7:
Arrange photos down left side and across bottom of the page. They do not have to line up in a perfect line and you can go over the wavy strips that are already mounted. Use photo adhesive to mount to the page.
Step 8:
Use the thick silver metallic pen to randomly freehand the title of the page. For my example I just used Summer 2002. Then draw a spiral on the center of the sun and embellish around the edge of the sun, the rays, and the wavy strips with various dots and dashes.
Step 9:
Use the thin silver metallic pen to journal around any of the photos. I kept it simple and just identified two of the photos.
